What if an exhibition goes beyond the
walls of a museum? That's what happened in the coastcity Oostende.
Bjorn van Poucke has created the project 'The Crystal Ship'. It's an art festival spread all over the city, not
only are there some monumental works, even miniscule ones are placed
all over. It's a great way to explore the city and come in contact
with some lovely art.
On a sunny springday, we arrived at the
festival. Upon arrival we got a map of the city. The monumental works
were clearly marked, while the tiny ones made the visit a scavenger
hunt throughout the city. I felt like a little child hunting for
treasures.

I wish there were more hours in a day,
so I would have more time to admire all the work. Luckily the work of (almost) every artist will remain in the city for a minimum of two years. The
participating artists are from all over the globe, with names like
Isaac Cordal, Roa, Jaune, Agostino Iacurci, … (just to name a few)
the city becomes a paradise for lovers of (street) art.

It's an interesting concept, to perk up a
city with art. As the organisation said, a lot of people don't bother
to take the (first) step to enter a museum, with this festival the
art is brought to them.
If you are ever in the neigbourhood,
have fun exploring!
